Toys will be given out to the resident homeless children at the Miami Rescue Mission

The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be giving toys to the homeless children who currently reside at the Miami Rescue Mission’s Center for Women and Children.

In addition to toys being passed out, local McDonald’s owner Yoyi Rodriguez will be on hand to pass out Happy Meals with toys for the children as well.

The Miami Rescue Mission provides food, shelter, clothing, education, job training, spiritual directions and long-term rehabilitation to the homeless population of South Florida.

“The ongoing relationship between the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Miami Rescue Mission is something that we cherish. It is wonderful to see a donation like this the week of Christmas so that we may be able to provide smiles for those children in our community who need it the most,” said Melissa Singh, Community Development Associate of the Miami Rescue Mission.

Since 1922 the Miami Rescue Mission (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) Centers have served the homeless and needy men, women, and children of Miami. Every day the organization provides food, shelter, clothing, education, job training, spiritual direction and long-term rehabilitation programs in Miami, Hollywood and Pompano to nearly 1,000 homeless on a daily basis. The mission also has at-risk after-school and summer day camp youth programs. The Miami Rescue Mission started reaching out to the homeless in Broward County in 1992 and in 1997 the Broward Outreach Center in Hollywood was opened. Then in 2002 the Broward Outreach Center in Pompano Beach was opened to serve the homeless in the north end of Broward.
