Openings in the North Miami Galleries and Jazz Concert at MOCA
The Museum of Contemporary Art, MOCA, presents a jazz concert the last Friday evening of the month. For Friday, April 30, the museum has programmed at 8:00 p.m. the Jazz concert by Negroni’s Trio and Ed Calle. For further information please visit www.mocanomi.org.

The galleries in North Miami and the project rooms will also have their regular opening night on the last Friday of the month, April 30, 2010, from 7 to 10 p.m. During the gallery walk, visitors will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and wine.

ArtNexus Magazine opens a new space dedicated to the sale of magazines, art books, editions by Latin American artists and design objects. Represented by the Christopher Paschall s.XXI Gallery, José García is the guest artist for the space. The predominant subjects in Garcia’s work are simulations, replicas, and illusions. He has been developing formal research on illusion and mimesis in painting. By way of various supports, the artist questions the “naturalness” and truthfulness of the visible, creating “simulacra” that rely on a careful perceptive deception (trompe l’oeil) through painting.
