Just steps away from the Art Basel Miami Beach Fair, the 2008 edition of INK Miami Art Fair will open on Thursday, December 4th with a Breakfast Preview starting at 10:00 am at the Suites of Dorchester, noted for its convenience and proximity to the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Unique among the satellite fairs in South Beach, INK Miami 2008 is a focused exhibition showcasing contemporary works on paper by internationally renowned artists. This year’s fair will feature thirteen exhibitors selected from among the membership of the International Fine Print Dealers Association for their outstanding ability to offer collectors a diverse survey of 20th century masterworks and just-published editions by leading contemporary artists.

Exciting new projects from contemporary publishers include new editions from BURT BARR, a glow-in-the-dark wallpaper by TRENTON DOYLE HANCOCK and lush new cyanotypes by ALEX KATZ and CHRISTIAN MARCLAY from Florida’s Graphicstudio. Tandem Press will show new work by JUDY PFAFF, DAVID LYNCH, ROBERT COTTINGHAM, DAVID SHAPIRO and SAM RICHARDSON. New digital ink jet prints on archival paper by ALLAN WEXLER, ALTOON SULTAN, and an inventive series of 5 inkjet cotton fabric prints with digitized embroidery by JEAN SHIN will be on offer at Solo Impression Inc. Along with editions by JULIE MEHRETU, JOCKUM NÖRDSTROM, and NATHAN OLIVEIRA, Crown Point Press will premiere EDGAR BRYAN’S new project, “The Surrealist,” 2008, a color spit bite aquatint with aquatint and soft ground etching in an edition of 25. Dolan Maxwell will show recent projects by DAVID KELSO and a selection of works from their extensive inventory of mid-century Atelier 17 artists. Also look forward to new prints by MARY LEE BENDOLPH and DAVID HUFFMAN at Paulson Press.

Marlborough Graphics will showcase 20th century masterworks along with new editions by CLAUDIO BRAVO, MANOLO VALDÉS and CHAKAIA BOOKER. Shark’s Ink. has completed new color lithographs by TOM BURCKHARDT, ENRIQUE CHAGOYA and ROBERTO JUAREZ, including a hand-colored monoprint by Juarez as well as color woodcuts by HIROKE MORINOUE and BETTY WOODMAN. Dranoff Fine Art will bring a diamond-dusted screen print by DAMIEN HIRST while Mixografía will present an ambitious, new three-dimensional project by JOHN BALDESSARI. “Sailboat,” was conceived from a cut-foam maquette Baldessary created in 1996, with the printing of all the elements thereafter. The edition was signed and released in 2008. John Szoke Editions will show works by LOUISE BOURGEOIS, an artist obsessively drawn to printmaking over her career as well as important works by HENRI MATISSE and PABLO PICASSO. Szoke is new to the Fair this year along with Works On Paper, Inc. of Philadelphia. Rare-to-market masterworks on offer at Works On Paper will include ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG’S 1967 “Test Stone I” from the “Booster and 7-Studies” series and an iconic ELLSWORTH KELLY lithograph from 1997. London-based dealer Sims Reed will show an extensive catalog of 20th century classics including a complete portfolio of 10 etching and aquatints by PETER DOIG published in 1996 by the Paragon Press.
