    This year’s South Florida Emerald Society’s Irish Stew Cook-Off opens its doors to those who enjoy a hearty Irish Stew on a fun-filled winter day in Miami at the Miami Yacht Club with sweeping views of Biscayne Bay.
    Participants will get the chance to sample a delicious variety of entries. Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, as well as to the cook with the best presentation.

    Queer Miami: A History of LGBTQ Communities, curated by Miami native and history professor Julio Capó Jr., will chronicle Miami’s queer past, reflecting its gender and sexual diversity for over one hundred years. Through artifacts, photographs, archival footage, and more, the exhibition will display the stories of Miami’s queer communities who, despite discrimination, isolation, and violence, managed to carve out spaces for themselves and made their voices heard in southern Florida. The exhibition opens Saturday, March 15 at HistoryMiami Museum.

    Queer Miami will be HistoryMiami Museum’s featured exhibition for the 2019-2020 calendar. Displayed in the museum’s 5,000 square foot gallery, Queer Miami will address topics such as: policing and criminalization, community development, advocacy and activism, immigration and the AIDS crisis, and what the future holds for Miami’s queer community. Visitors will be able to see memorabilia from some of Miami’s oldest gay bars, photographs of rallies and marches, archival material from Anita Bryant’s “Save Our Children” campaign, historical footage, and original video interviews from the people involved in creating Miami’s LGBTQ communities. Interactive components will encourage visitors to contribute their own story to the exhibition.

    HistoryMiami Museum will open the exhibition with a preview party on Friday, March 15 at 6 pm. The opening event will feature live music, performances, complimentary beverages, and more. Tickets are $10 or free with pre-registration. Visit bit.ly/queer-miami-party to reserve your spot.

    Now in its 23rd edition, the Voices For Children Foundation will host its fundraiser the 2019 Be A Voice Gala at Mandarin Oriental on Saturday, January 19th with Chairs Brad and Suzanne Meltzer to support the foster care youth of Miami-Dade County. The theme of this year’s gala is Make Magic, presented by Susan and Alex Samas in loving memory of Jeffrey C. Samas.
    Welcoming 500 of Miami’s most philanthropic and influential community leaders and business professionals to the black tie affair, funds raised at the event will benefit Miami-Dade’s abused, abandoned and neglected children to help ensure they have a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem and that financial assistance and other resources are available for their health, educational, and social needs.
    The evening will commence at 7 PM with an elegant cocktail reception featuring strolling magicians and entertainers. The elaborately decorated Grand Ballroom will open its doors at 8 PM where guests will enjoy a three course dinner, a live auction, special entertainment by DJ Kucha and a moving testimonial of a youth whose life has been highly impacted by the work of Voices For Children and the Guardian ad Litem Program.

    Miami Classical Guitar Society is very proud to present young virtuoso guitarist Tengyue Zhang of China. Zhang received First Prize in the Guitar Foundation of American (GFA) International Concert Artists Competition in 2017, known as the most prestigious guitar contest in the world.     Design on a Dime Miami is a one-of-a-kind room vignette that will be curated by 25+ top interior designers from donated merchandise that will all be for sale. All proceeds from this event will help fund The Housing Works AIDS-FREE Campaign- a collaborative, multi-year initiative committed to ending the AIDS epidemic—in New York State by 2020, in the United States by 2025, and worldwide by 2030.

    Experience ALL of Wynwood in ONE weekend! Wynwood Life is back for 2019 and will be looking to unite and celebrate the heart of Wynwood through the best local experiences of ART. FOOD. FASHION. DRINKS. MUSIC. This free, three-day festival, in partnership with SWARM and the Wynwood BID, will offer an experience unlike any other in collaboration with some of Wynwood’s top local businesses.

    Wynwood Life will be incorporating daily live art entertainment by local artists on it’s very own Art Stage, including life sized spray cans that will be painted LIVE. Supercar Rooms Miami will also be building out their very own extravagant yet chill activation space, displaying Elo’s exquisite cars, with customizations second to none.

    South Florida’s very best, Wynwood-based chefs will be showcased at The Kitchen Lab With notable participants including Victor Santos of Three Restaurant alongside bar master Darwish Iregui of No. 3 Social in back-to-back segments on Saturday followed by Chef Oscar Del Rivero of Wynwood’s newest Mexican restaurant Bakan. Guests will be able to sip and savor on top-of-the-line local breweries such as Veza Sur, J Wakefield, Concrete Beach Brewery, and more soon to be announced.

    To experience the essence of Wynwood’s fashion scene there will be daily fashion shows featuring styles from the local, beautiful Wynwood businesses as well as the return of the Style Lounge by Bloomingdale’s. You will also be able to enjoy a shopping experience curated by the Thrifter Market with over 80+ artisan vendors who will be displaying creative and unique products.

    Taking place at thedeck, some of Wynwood’s most popular lounges and bars will be hosting “music takeovers” featuring their resident DJs at the Festival. The takeover will include DJ’s from Veza Sur, The Dirty Rabbit, SHOTS, Barter, and more to be announced.
