The OMNI Board of Tourism is a public art project that will house the most upto-date tourist map with listings and guides for Miami’s up and coming OMNI Neighborhood. This December 4th we will be launching our website, THEOMNIBOT.com along with our Biscayne Boulevard Display case windows located in the historic Gold Coast Pharmacy building. TheOMNIBOT.com will maintain the OMNI area’s most current and detailed listings of restaurants and places of interest. Aside from the easy to follow map, the website will also feature some fun Miami Do’s and Dont’s and an online gift shop full of limited edition art works with an eye towards tourism, and unique Miami memorabilia. We are also excited to premier our first, Outside OMNI destination guide and we’re excited to start this series with, The City of Detroit! In attempts to further welcome our destination recommendation of Detroit this year, The Board has organized a special event highlighting the artistic achievements of notable Detroit and Miami based artists. The resulting exhibition, titled “Studio Visit”, will include work by Detroit natives Kristin Beaver, Samuel Consiglio, and Nicola Kuperus. This talented group will exhibit their work within the actual studio space of Miami artists Hernan Bas, Jiae Hwang and Natalya Laskis at 2014 NW Miami Court. The space will be transformed into a traditional gallery for viewing art with the addition of a full-blown Omni Board of Tourism official tourist shop! All of our online gifts and guides will be available for sale and each of the artists in the show will be making inexpensive limited edition designs for the shop.

Aqua Art Miami, Wynwood

Through personal, established relationships, casual encounters, forced institutional interactions, or contact from a safe distance, we often overstep our boundaries. Whether we are conscious or not of our boundary breaking, we are all guilty at one time or another of intruding into other people’s lives and space. What may pass as uneventful for one individual may be the cause of great anxiety and fear for another. I’m Keeping an Eye on You explores the broad and lasting effects of our curiosity and intrusions upon others.

Artists featured in I’m Keeping an Eye on You include: Mounira Al Solh (Amsterdam/Beirut), Rachel Garfield (London), Charlotte Ginsborg (London), Pia Greschner (Berlin), Myung-Soo Kim (Tempe), Yaron Lapid (London), Jeff Luckey (New York/Berlin), Johnna MacArthur (Los Angeles), Michael Mohan (Los Angeles), Corinna Schnitt (Hamburg).

Following the Aqua Art Miami Video Project Space premiere I’m Keeping an Eye on You debuts as full exhibition at Arizona State University Art Museum in Fall of 2009

This project is generously made possible by Aqua Art Miami http://aquaartmiami.com and Friends of the Arizona State University Art Museum

Electro Strings event will feature the Miami-based viola virtuoso Laura Wilcox and the up and coming banjo/electronics master James Moore from New York.

Canadian-American violist, LAURA WILCOX has performed throughout Canada, the United States and in Europe and South America as a recitalist, soloist with orchestras, and in numerous chamber ensembles. A passion and commitment for unveiling the obscure, reviving the “living” classics, and in premiering new musical works, Laura has collaborated in many crossover musical and artistic ventures with international performers and composers from North America, Asia, Europe, Central and South America. The Toronto Star wrote about her recent Aeternalis Voyage CD: “an eloquent premiere…by the brilliant Laura Wilcox as soloist.”

Tonight, Laura will present three pieces for viola and electronics by Orlando Garcia, Juraj Kojs, and Judith Shatin.

JAMES MOORE is a versatile guitarist with many musical personalities. Performing on a wide variety of acoustic and electric guitars, banjos, and home-made instruments, James combines the sensitivity and lyricism from his classical training with a healthy dose of improvisation, theatrics, and experimentation. Whether as a soloist, in a rock band, or in a classical ensemble, he aims for all of his music to be unique and personal.

James’s performances have brought him to concert halls and experimental music venues across the country, including shows with Bang on a Can, Other Minds, Princeton University, The Electronic Music Foundation, Anti-Social Music, the Merkin Hall Ear Department Series, and The Kitchen. In addition to collaborating with gifted musicians and composers from his own generation, James has worked with many of today’s leading artists, including David Lang, Steve Reich, Ingram Marshall, and Meredith Monk.

Tonight, James will perform works for banjo and electronics composed by himself, Lainie Fefferman, Matthew Marks, Paula Matthusen, and Matthew Welch.

We will also remember JUAN PEDRO BLANCO RODRIGUEZ, a pioneer of electroacoustic music in America, as well as founder and director of the Cuban National Electroaocustic Music Laboratory, who passed away at the age of 92 on November 5 in Havana. We will play his piece 5 Epitafios.
